If you've made your New Year resolution and didn't include blogging, well, you could still give your resolution a little tweak. It's a good way to start the year. So this is how it's going to be, if you're just starting out.

1) Know what it is you want to blog about.

2) Next, choose a niche you have a keen interest in.

3) Then choose WordPress.com as the blogging platform of your choice. Why?

Because you have a platform that speaks longevity. Take it from a guy who has been using it for 16 years! In fact, I can proudly say that throughout these years,  I've had no problems at all.

Reasons?

The first reason is that, it is always with you. What do I mean by this? Well, throughout this entire time, I've been on and off the WordPress.com platform, taking breaks from blogging.

Life situations can sometimes get in the way, leaving you little time to do other things.

And so for months, and sometimes for a good number of years, I was off the WordPress.com platform, even without logging into my account.

Most platforms would require you to login, at least once every 30 days if you want to keep you account active. Some will automatically deactivate your account after 6 month citing as reasons, storage space.

But I've  never had this problem.

The second reason is that it is always up and running, 99% of the time. There hasn't been a day when I woke up to login to my account, that I found my website to be down.

Where most other platforms  have uptime problem, WordPress.com has never disappointed me in that sense.

Having a 99% uptime is important, if you want constant visibility.

Your website or blog is your window of visibility in the digital world. It is your content creation center where you can showcase your world, and don't have to worry about the "lights shutting down" on your blog.

So if are you worried about frequent downtime, don't worry. Because in this, the WordPress team has you covered. The WordPress server infrastructure is constantly at work to ensure your website is up and running.

And so you can go about your blogging with a peace of mind that removes the doubts you might have about uptime/downtime. When you want constant, uninterrupted visibility, this is what you get with WordPress.com.

But you need assurances, trust that it can deliver. And that's because you have blogging needs that must be met and you need a robust platform.

And so you may be asking one question. Is it right for me?

 Is WordPress.com right for you?

If you are wondering if WordPress.com is right for you, right for your blogging needs in 2026, here's how to look at it.

1) First understand your needs. And here the question to ask are,

Do I want a website,

-for personal use or,

-for business and eCommerce?

For personal use

If you want to share personal stories and experiences, your primary focus is not to make monetary gains. Set up a personal blog to share such stories.

For business and eCommerce

Do you want an online presence for your line of business? Do you want to set up an eCommerce store for dropshipping?

Then your primary focus is making money by offering products. Set up a business or e Commerce blog for this purpose.

2) Secondly, Know what WordPress.com offers and see if it aligns with your blogging needs.
